The city of London is famous for the dignity with which it treats high ranking visitors from other countries  This has bean true through most of the city's long history  The original Scotland Yard was part of this phase of its history  It was an ancient building get aside for visiting Kings of Scotland and their ambassadors  In 1894, this building made way for a new one and into the new building moved the London Metropolitan Police force 

Its offices, called New Scotland Yard, are still headquarters for the Metropolitan Police, part of which is the famous C  I  D  • the Criminal Investigation Department  When a Londoner speaks of Scotland Yard, he often means the C  I  D  and not the office building which houses it
