How does a cricket chirp?

The cricket sings his cheerful song with, of all things, his wings, His crisp front wings fold over his back with the right wing lapped way over the left wing, Each wing has a hard vein, raised in a ridge and fitted with tiny teeth like a file, Each wing also has a ridged edge like a scraper,

The chirrup is made by rubbing the scraper on either wing against the file on the other wing  Mr  Cricket is the musician of the family  Mrs  Cricket merely listens  and, most amazing, her little ears are in the points of her spindly front legs.
