Frank Dreyfuss, age 8, of Annapolis, Md., for his question:

WHAT IS A SEA ANEMONE?

A sea anemone is an ocaan animal that looks like a flower. The shape of the body and its bright color give it the appearance of a plant.

Sometimes a sea anemone will be blue, green, pink or red. Other times it may be a combination of these colors.

Usually the sea anemone will remain fixed to a rock or other surface, but it actually can move slowly.

The animal's body can vary in length from about a quarter of an inch to three feet. One end of the cylinder shaped body attaches to rocks or shells while the other points out from the surface. The mouth is surrounded by tiny arms called tentacles.

A sea anemone reproduces by forming eggs, by dividing in half or by budding.
