Welcome to You Ask Andy

Do girls grow faster than boys?

A boy of fifteen or so may be chagrined to see his same age girl friend shoot up tall and leave him feeling like a midget; Andy says that this is usually only a temporary state of affairs. Between the ages of 15 and 18, girls very often grow a lot faster than boys. Boys usually do their growing more steadily and over a longer period of time. Generally they start the big spurt upwards a year or so before the girls have just about finished their growing and they keep growing steadily between the ages of 17 and 20. These rules, however, do not apply to everyone.
