How did the aster bet its name?

The fall is the time for asters to bloom. Their large shaggy blossoms adorn the gardens in blues, pinks, white and delicate shades of mauve. In the fields, the wild varieties of aster come out in starry flowers of white, blues and purples. The aster gets its name from a Greek word meaning star, or starry, If you look at the little wild flower, you can easily discover how this came about. The slender petals radiate out from the center in the forth of a twinkling star.
