Are elephants afraid of mice?

Jumbo is the biggest land animal in the world. In his jungle home he is not scared of lions, leopards or even angry rhinos. As a rule, these animals are far too sensible to attach the big fellow. When he leads his herd through the jungle, other animals get out of the way. Big Jumbo is not a scaredy cat in the wild or in the zoo.

Certainly he is not afraid of a little mouse. In fact, the big fellow’s eyes may not be sharp enough to see a tiny mouse. Zoo keepers know that mice often get into Jumbo’s hay and maybe frisk about his cage. These men who know tell us that the elephant pays no attention to the mice at all.
