Who was Horus?

You might come across this word in a crossword puzzle. You might see the owner of the name in statue form in the Egyptian section of a large museum, Horus was a god of the ancient Egyptians. To them he was the god of day, the many sunny hours of a twenty four hour day. For some reason they represented him as having the head of a hawk.

The statue of Horus may startle you. It has the body of a mss and the head of a hawk. Naturally, not even the ancient Egyptians ever saw such a creature in real life.
