What is a fiddler crab?

A fiddler crab is a crab who reminded people of a fiddler, He is a sea going crab, common in the salt marshes of the Atlantic states. The male of the clan in noticeable because one of his claws is much much larger than the other.  Some fellows have a larger right claw others have a larger left claw.

On the defensive, which is often, the fiddler crab carries his large claw up aad across the front of himself. He looks for all the world as if he were bowing away at an invisible violin.
