What causes day and night?

When you face a lamp your face is brightly lit. When you turn Four the back to/lamp your face is in shadow. On a much larger scale that  show night and day are caused.

The lamp is the radiant sun, which pours forth its light day an4 night. The earth, some 93 million miles away, has no light of its!, own. It is a big round ball, turning around like a top. It makes one turn every 21 hours.

As the earth turns first one side and then the other is facing the sun. The side facing the sun is in daylight, the other side in the shadow of night. But not for long. The earth goes on turning. The side which was in darkness turns to face the sun and enjoy its daylight. The side which had daylight turns around to cost in the shadow of night.
