Where was the Swiss Family Robinsonts island?
We have all dreamed of life on a tropical isle where a kindly nature provides all our needs free for the taking. Johann Rudolf Wyss: tried to create such an island paradise in his book The Swiss Family Robinson* We soon got lost in the lavish story and begin to envy the shipwrecked family on their bountiful islands.
Sad to says no such beautiful isle exists in the real world. Nowhere does nature provide such an assortment of wild fruits nuts and vegetables in one place. The author does not tell us where his never‑never land could be found and he give us only a few clues as to its whereabouts.
We gather that the Robinson's imaginary island was somewhere in the Pacific tropics. A native they meet is said to speak a Malay dialect. But certainly no such island paradise exists in the Malay region ors for that matter, anywhere else on our beautiful globe.
