How does a duck hear?
Ducks carry on endless conversations with each other, even though the quack quack seems rather monotonous. If they are quite deaf: they could not hear each other and they could not hear themselves, so there would be no purpose to this endless gossiping. The fact is ducks can hear and hear very well. If you even make a habit of feeding a flock, of ducks, you will soon discover that they are only too happy to come waddling when you call them.
Nevertheless, as far as we can seep they have no ears. The fact is~ like all birds, they have very good inner ears. They have no outer ears like the little shells fixed to the sides of your head. But these outer ears of ours are not the main organs of hearing. The, the ducks and all other animals, do most of our hearing with the inner ears which are deeply buried in the skull.
