Julia Leone Dimiterchik age ll, of Shreveport, La., for her question:
Do the Seven Wonders of the world still exist?
These famous Seven Wonders were the tourist attractions of the ancient world. No person of 2000 or 3000 years ago considered himself well traveled unless he had seen all of them. There was the Collossus of Rhodes, a great statue near Gibraltar and the Pharos, a great Light House at Alexandria. There was the Temple of Artemis at Ephesus and the great gold and ivory Statue of Zeus in his temple at Olympia. There was the famous Mausoleum of Maussollos at Halicamassus . There were the beautiful Hanging Gardens of Babylon and the Pyramids of Giza in Egypt.
Six of the seven wonders have long since turned to dust. The only one that remains is the Egyptian Pyramids, erected between 5000 and 6000 years ago.
