Willie Robinson age 13, for his question:
Where are gazelles found?
The graceful gazelles are creatures of the Old World. They are small, dainty antelopes, all members of the deer clan. Male gazelles and most females wear elegant horns which are: twirled like rope. Most of these dainty little deer are between two and three feet high at shoulder level. Yet they are among the speediest of all animals. Only the cheetah is faster than a gazelle.
Gazelles roam the hottest, driest, stoniest deserts of Africa and Asia. There are gazelles in the Sahara Desert, in the deserts of India, Lybia, Palestine and Syria. Altogether there are about 60 different varieties. All of them live: miles from trees and miles from water. They are content to chew the desert scrub and scorch in the desert sun. These dainty little deer, it seems, are much hardier than they look.
