Where do goldfish live in the ocean?

The goldfish is a pampered relative of the carp. And the carp is a tough, fresh water fish, Long ago, the Chinese started making pets of certain little carp in their fresh water streams. They picked the prettiest ones and kept them with other pretty ones. Generation by generation, the little pets got prettier and prettier. In time, the Chinese had a new strain of gold and orange fish very different from their drab relatives living wild in the streams.

Our goldies will survive, even if we put them back to live wild in the streams and rivers. However, being fresh water fish, they would immediately perish in salt water. Hence there are no goldfish in the oceans, Sad to say, our pets would not stay goldfish in the wild for very long. Their children would be less colorful. In a few generations they would become like their dulls drab relatives in the streams of China.
