Is there more land than water on the earth?

Look at that gift globe and you will see that there is much, much more water than land on the face of the earthy The Pacific Ocean alone takes up about one third of the earths s surface area, This is the biggest of the oceans. The smallest ocean is the Antarctic and even this little sea covers three percent of the world.

Then there are the huge areas covered by the Atlantic and Indian Oceans. Add the smaller seas such as the Mediterranean, the big gulfs and bays. the lakes and rivers. This total area can be estimated in square miles, The land area of the earth is estimated to be 56,468,400 square miles. The water covered area totals 140,481‑,900 square miles,

The solid ground on which we live covers a little more than one quarter of the whole earth. Almost three quarters of the world is covered by the watery oceans,, seas„ gulfs bays and lakes.
