Where does the caribou live?
The caribou is a deer of the frozen north. There are times when he wanders around over the bitterly cold ground way inside the Arctic Circle. He is a friendly fellow and always travels with a‑large company of his friends and relatives. The whole herd wanders further south during the worst of the winter. But summer finds them up in the tundra lands where few four foot animals dare to go. The caribou herds still wander through the northern regions of the New World and the Old World, though they are not so plentiful as they once were.
All caribous are wild animals, foraging for themselves. For when a caribou is adopted by a human family he changes his name. He becomes a reindeer. Right now, of course, a group of reindeer have just been put out to pasture after a very exciting trip around the world. They are Santa's very own reindeer, naturally.
