Welcome to You Ask Andy

  Tommy Lee, aged 9, of Wichita, Kansas for his question;

What makes our teeth chatter in the cold?

Your body tries to keep Itself warm in the cold weather. One way to keep warm is by exercise. On a hot day, running will make you hotter. On a cold day, a brisk trot will make you warmer

Shivering and chattering teeth are really exercise. Your body forces muscles to relax and contract by turns, The teeth chatter when the face and ,haw muscles tense up and relax. This gives off a certain amount of body heat,

When your teeth chatter. from the cold you should take a hint, Get along, the body says, I'm cold and need some exercise. Run, jump, skip. It's far more fun than having your teeth chatter.
