Where do red jellyfish come from?

Two kinds of red, or pinkish jelly fish make their way into Puget Sound. Both have stingers. One can be really dangerous to swimmers. The smaller one is the moon jellyfish. He is only eight to ten inches across and, of course, he is shaped like a full moon, He starts life in the tidal backwater and inlets away from the tossing shorelines. He begins as a tiny blob of jelly. For a time he is opal solar ‑ with four blackish. areas, . Come midsummer, the dark .spots may turn red. This gives him an all‑over pinkish look.

The other fellow is the biggest jellyfish to visit the American shores. He is the sea blubber and may be from one foot to seven feet across his jelly dome. His dangerous stingers may stream in the water for yards. Naturally, he is a native of deeper waters. He will dry up if washed onto the beach, Usually the sea blubber is yellow or brownish in color. But once in a while one is born a bright pink color.
