What is the largest fish alive?
The largest creature in the sea is the big blue whales But he is not a fish„ He is a warm‑blooded mammal. The largest true fish is a shark. He is not however! the toothy menace that nips at bathers and goes for small boats.
The largest fish is the whale shark. He is a native of most tropical seas. He has plenty of teeth but they are too small to bother human beings. What's more he's not fond of fights or wrestling for his food. He lives on small fishy usually those that swim in schools.
The whale shark eats very much like the blue baleen whale. He swallows water hoping it is full of fish; He sifts out the food and sends the water back through his gills. He is a lazy fellow and sometimes he collides with a ship while he is taking a sunbath on the surface.
A whale shark of 45 feet has been reliably recorded. There are less reliable reports of 60‑foot monsters. A 35‑foot whale shark has been estimated to weigh some 13 tons. This giant of the fish is dark grey‑brown in color and his coat is ornamented with round yellow dots. Like most sharks Mama Whale Shark gives birth to live babies.
