Welcome to You Ask Andy

William Blair, age 11, of Williamsport, Pa., for his question;

How much water evaporates each day?

On a world wide scale, the sun drinks up 15 million tons of water every Second. On a world wide scale, 15 million tons of moisture fall from the sky every second. This weathery precipitation may be rain or snow, sleet or hail. In a Year, the amount of water which evaporates equals the amount which falls from the clouds.

The amount of all the water in the world has been estimated in tons. The figure is a big one. It is 14, followed by 17 zeroes. In a day, roughly one millionth part of this water evaporates and the some amount is precipitated as rain or snow, Sleet or hail.
