Does the ostrich really hide his head in the sand?
This old story goes on and on, yet if you think a minute you can find many reasons why it cannot possibly be true, Has mortal enemy, the lion, would see the big bird=s bulky body and have him trapped If the ostriches made a habit of this trick, the silly, birds would all have been eaten by lions long ago Besides which, anybody, including an ostrich would soon suffocate with his head in the sand
Actually the ostrich has no need to hide from his enemies The tall bird has keen eyesight and can sea danger coming from afar, He can outrun even a fast horse and, if he should get cornered, he has kicking power equal to a couple of strong mules
