What is the continental drift?
The eastern shores of the Americas form an amazing parallel with the shorelines of Europe and Africa on the opposite side of the wide Atlanta ; The two great land masses, it seems, could be fitted neatly together Ike the pieces of a dig‑saw puzzle In northern Europe, there are mountains which could bo fitted to the northern end of the Appalachians, for both are of the same age and structure
There is much more evidence to suggest that the two land masses were once joined, that maybe the Atlantic Ocean is a great rift in the earth’s crust which forced them to drift apart We call this reasonable explanation the continental drift The theory has not been proved, It explains many coincidences, but leaves just as many facts unanswered.
