Welcome to You Ask Andy

Tim Hegedus age 10,

Are there seasons at the equator?

In Bridgeport, Connecticut, the winter days are short and the summer days are long  The summer sun climbs higher in the sky, but it is never directly overhead  Everywhere north and south of the equator, this is true  The days vary more with the seasons and the sun is lower in the shy the farther we get from the equator

At the equator, however, day and night are equal throughout the year and every day the noon sun is directly overhead  Every day throughout the year is alike and the equator lows no changing seasons.
