John Sophap age 12., of Marmora, Ontario, for his question:
Where does the hummingbird migrate?
Only one of the many lovely hummingbirds makes his summer home in eastern Canada. He is the beautiful rubythroat. Come late summer, he sets out for his long journey to his winter home in the warm south. He flies down through New England and on trough the Southland as far as the Gulf of Mexico. Here he rests for a while.
The next leg of his journey takes the little bird over the Gulf of Mexico. The tiny creature flies this 500 miles across open water non stop. Once over the water, he may stay and spend the winter in Mexico or he may go still further south to spend the winter in Central America.
