What are ultra violet rays?

Sunlight is just a part of the radiant energy which pours from the sun. It is a blend of the colored rays which travel on wave lengths which our eyes can see. The band of colors we can see are the colors of the rainbow. They run from the short wave blue rays to the long wave red  rays.

Also coming from the sun are rays with wave lengths too short and others with wave lengths too long for our eyes to see. The invisible infrared rays era somewhat longer than the red rags of the rainbow, The invisible ultra violet rays are somewhat shorter than the short blue rays of the rainbow,
