Louise Gillen, age 13, of Belmont., N. C.* for her questions
Are seals warm blooded ,animals?
Seals are mammals and mammals are warm blooded animals who give` birth to live babies: Lost mammals hive warm coats of furp wool or hair, though the pig has only a few stiff bristles. The porpoises and the big whale s, like the seals, are sea going mammals.
It is thought that the m ce store of the sea mammals were once land animals. At some time in the dim past, they took to the water, perhaps in search of food. In tune, the legs of the seals became flippers, which are far better suited to swimming. They have thick coats of fur or hair to keep them warm in polar seas and layers of fatty blubber. under their skins.
