Wand a Purvis, age 13, of Indianola, Nebraska, for her question:
What is the state song of Nebraska?
Officially, Nebraska has no state song. Unofficially, the state song is My Nebraska, with words and music by Theodore Diers. There are three other songs which Nebraskans sing in honor of their state. Nebraska's state bird is the western meadow lark, its state tree is the American Elm, its state flower the golden rod.
Every state has a nickname, and Nebraska has two. It is called the Cornhusker State, in honor of the University of Nebraskats football team. It is also called the Tree Planter’s State to honor the tree planting settlers and those who started the first Arbor Day.
