Welcome to You Ask Andy

Becky Anders, age 9, of Des ones, Iowa., or her question:

Would we, weigh less on other planets?

There are nine planets in our Solar System. Some of them are bigger, some smaller, some lighter and some heavier than the earth, No two are exactly alike in size and weight. This means that no two planets have exactly the same gravity and it is gravity which gives an object its weight. Any object would have a different weight on each one of the planets.

Suppose you weigh one hundred pounds on the earth. On three of the planets, you would weigh less, On Mercury you would weigh only 25 pounds arid on Mars only 36 pounds, on golden Venus, sometimes called the earth's sister planet you would weigh 85 pounds.
