Interpol's name gives you a clear picture what the word means: international police.
About 100 different countries have joined together to form Interpol. The organization's full name is the International Criminal Police Organization.
All of the members of Interpol have agreed to help one another by exchanging information, locating suspects and criminals and arresting persons wanted for trial in the countries of the various members. The organization also has a legal department that aids in returning criminals in their own countries.
Once each year delegates from the member countries meet to discuss police problems and approve new members. Founded in 1923, Interpol headquarters in the Paris suburb of St. Cloud.
