Narnia to Marett J. Dagg, age 8 of Vancouver, B.C., Canada, for her question:
Is the golden eagle bigger than the bald eagle?
The golden eagle is called the "king of birds." The so called bald eagle has a head covered with handsome white feathers. He is called the "American eagle" because he is the national symbol of the United States. Both these eagles may grow to be about the same size, so nobody can say for certain which one is bigger. But one thing is certain: The female golden eagle and the female American eagle are both a little bigger than the males. Either one may measure 35 inches from the tip of her hooked beak to the tip of her feathery tail. Either one may weigh as much as 13 pounds and her wings may spread 7 feet wide.
