Craig Fellows, age 8, of Schenectady, N.Y., for his question:
WHO NAMED THE INDIANS?
When Columbus arrived, he did not know that he had discovered America. He thought that he had sailed clear around the globe to the East Indies. There were people here to meet him, and he thought they must be Indians of course, he was quite wrong, for those people were the original Americans and they had been here for ages. They had already named themselves, but nobody knew this until later. Nowadays, polite people call them, the Amerindians or American Indians.
