Jacobs, age 10, of Atlanta, Ga., for his question:
HOW DOES A DOG GET RABIES?
The virus that causes rabies thrives in the saliva inside the mouth the mouth. Any warmblooded animal can be infected by the dreadful disease. when a dog is bitten by an infected animal, the virus enters his flesh with the moist saliva. A dog also may be infected if the moist saliva enters his body through an open wound. However, when your dog is vaccinated with antirabies shots, the deadly virus can do him no harm.
