Rebecca Deitz, age 8, of Woodlake, Calif. For her question:
Flow fast does the moon go around the earth?
The moon must stay about 240,000 miles from the earth. ,end it must go all t::e way around its long orbit in about one month. To do this, it must keep traveling at 2,300 m.p.h. And this is not all. It also must circle around the sun along with the earth. This long journey is about 595 million miles and the moon and earth must orbit all the way around in one year. As the moon. orbits the earth at 2,300 m.p.h., the two of them orbit the sun at 66,600 m.p.h.
