Jean Tyler, age 12, of Newport Beach, Calif., for her question:
WHAT MAKES CLOUDS MOVE?
Clouds are moved by the winds. Even a lazy little breeze is strong enough to shift its light foamy mist. The big winds blowing aloft carry them along as they blow from here to there. What’s more, even a fluffy white cloud that looks so calm and peaceful tends to create a few breezes of its own. They move its frothy mist around and up and down. And the big winds aloft carry this breezy pocket of mist for miles and miles over land and sea.
