Kim Forestell, age 7, of St. Catharines, Ont., Can., for her question:
HOW BIG ARE THE CONDORS?
The great condors of California are the biggest flying birds in North America. The mighty condors of South America are the biggest flying birds in the whole world. The California condor measures 55 inches from his painted head to his stiff black tail. He weighs 25 pounds, and his huge wings spread 10 feet wide. The South American condor is a few inches longer and a few pounds heavier. He soars high above the lofty Andes on wings that are more than 10 feet wide.
