Bridgette Wright, age 9, of Florence, S.C., for her question:
WHERE DO EAGLES BUILD THEIR NESTS?
The mighty eagle flies high in the sky so his sharp eyes can spy the country near and far. This is because he hunts for ratty rodents, scurrying over the ground. The eagle is used to living high in the world. So naturally we would expect the family nest to be way above the ground. And so it is.
Some parent eagles build their nests in the top of a tall tree. But most families prefer a lofty ledge near the top
of a high, steep cliff. Or it may be among the rocky peaks of a high mountain. The nest is a huge shaggy platform of sticks ¬and the same parents return to it year after year. Each time they do some remodeling, and year after year the eagle nest in the sky tends to get bigger and shaggier.
