Welcome to You Ask Andy

Woody Maiden Jr., age 14, of Richmond, Va., for his question:

WHAT CAUSES PLANTAR WARTS?

Plantar warts appear on the soles of the feet  this area is called the plantar surface  and are actually causedby a virus infection of the skin. You'll find them most often on points of pressure because this is found to play a part in their development.

This type of wart is troublesome because it can be painful. When you walk, the plantar wart can be flattened and pushed inward  which can be very troublesome since you may be squeezing nerve endings. Best solution to the problem: consult a doctor.
