Scott Bouldin, 10, of High Point, N.C., for his question:
HOW WAS THE SANDWICH NAMED?
An English nobleman, the Earl of Sandwich, was playing cards in the early 1700s and he didn't want to interrupt his game when he became hungry. So he asked one of his servants to bring him a piece of roast meat between two slices of bread. And just like that, the sandwich was born.
Sandwiches are popular in just about every country in the world. What is your favorite kind? Especially popular are
the peanut butter and jelly, grilled cheese or the boiled ham. Then there's the sandwich that is called either a poor boy, submarine or hero. You make this king size feast on a French roll by heaping slices of cold meats including ham and salami next to cheeses, sliced tomato, pickles and lettuce. Then top the glorious combination with a bit of mayonnaise and mustard.
