Felix McKinney, age 13, of Fargo, N.D., for his question:
WHICH CONTINENT IS THE LARGEST?
Eurasia is the largest of the earth's six continents or main land divisions. Eurasia is located mostly in the northern half of the Eastern Hemisphere. It is surrounded by large bodies of water.
Touching Eurasia are the Atlantic Ocean on the west, the Arctic Ocean on the north, the Pacific Ocean on the east and the Indian Ocean and Mediterranean Sea on the south.
Eurasia includes more than one third of the earth's entire land area and about four fifths of its population. It is so large that its two main parts, Europe and Asia, are usually considered separate continents.
Eurasia has more countries than any other continent. It also has the world's highest point (Mount Everest at more than 29,000 feet above sea level) and the lowest body of water (Dead Sea at about 1,300 feet below sea level).
