IS IT TRUE THAT THE KIWI BIRD CAN'T FLY?

Kiwi is the common name applied to birds of the family Apterygidae. They are related to the extinct moa. The kiwi is a flightless bird that cannot take to the air.

The kiwi, also known as the epteryx, is named for its characteristic cry. There are three species and they are restricted to New Zealand, although you'll find some in American zoos.

The kiwi is about the size of a large hen. Although it cannot fly, it has rudimentary wings, hidden by the downy, gray brown feathers that thickly cover the body. The legs are short, stout and covered
