James Brown, age 8, of Walnut Creek, CA for his question:
WHERE CAN YOU FIND A DINGO?
A dingo is a wild dog. It can be found living wild only in Australia.
Dingoes are the only wild members of the dog family that you will find in the country. Scientists tell us that prehistoric men most likely brought the first dingoes with them when they came to Australia.
Dingoes are medium sized dogs. They have bushlike tails, erect ears and alert faces. They range from yellowish brown to black. They rarely bark but howl instead.
If caught as puppies, dingoes make good pets. In fact, some kennels breed dingoes. Dingoes hunt alone or.in family groups. Their chief food is the wallaby, which is a small kangaroo. They also kill sheep sometimes and for this reason they are regarded as pests.
