Julie Yost, age 10, of Glendale, Ariz., for her question:
WHERE CAN YOU FIND AN IGUANA?
An iguana is a lizard that lives in the warm areas of both the Eastern and Western hemispheres.
The green common iguana can be found in the forest trees of tropical America. Some can grow to be 6 and 1/2 feet long, including its long, black banded tail.
You'll find the iguana on the deserts of southwestern United States and northern Mexico. Called the zebra tailed lizard, this creature grows to be about 6 inches long. The rhinoceros iguana of Haiti and the Dominican Republic is another common type.
In the Galapagos Islands you'll find the marine iguana. This is the only lizard known to feed in the surf. It eats seaweed.
